Tha "magic" behind counting cards online is sort of explained by the - "the normal distribution curve". (Yeah we said sort of.. :-))
Meaning the cards in a deck will have a sort of even distribution regarding the values of the cards.
If the last 16 cards have been low number cards, the probability that the next 16 cards have many high cards is much greater. And more higher/10s the better advantage for the player.
Compared to Card Counting in casinos with for example 8 decks where you calculate the True count based on running count and the remaining deck.
When we in Online Blackjack calculate the value of the 16 latest cards dealt by the dealer, called "Window count".
The "Window counting" technique is based on the Hi-Lo count for the last 16 cards dealt by the dealer.
Basically, if the last 16 cards have been between 2 and 6, the count would be +16 count and a nice big advantage for the player.
If its been many face cards, the count would be lower and betting should be avoided or kept at the lowest.
See the graph at the top for expected edge for the player - Its reaching + at count of +5 or bigger. (May differ depending on what online casino)
To help you keep track of the 16-card Running Count you can use our Card Counting App in the top menu.
As its much harder to do it in your head (You have to remember all the 16 last card values in order)
